Worship and Easter Egg Hunt
On Easter Sunday we attend worship services as we do every Lords Day. Afterwards we either go out to eat or have dinner at my mothers house with all the children and grandchildren. We then have an Easter Egg Hunt for all of the kids. We always fill one egg with money and whoever finds it is the winner. After that we always have moms homemade Strawberry Pie. Simply Delicious!

Crocheted Bunny Duck Eggs
Hey there......I just wanted to share with you what went on at Easter time when I was a child! It still holds a special place in my heart!
We would all get together and my Grandparents house.....The kids would stay in the Garage while the adults went all over the front and back yard and hide eggs! My Grandma would always crochet a Duck or a Bunny cover for one special egg! That would be the egg to try to find! lol The rest of the eggs were filled with candy, such as jellybeans, and gummies! Whoever found the Special egg got a Awesome suprise of 2 .50cent pieces! Of course after it was all over with and the lucky grandchild found the Special egg....Grandma would call us over to her on the front porch...Set us all down and tell us how special we all were! Tell us wonderful stories when she was a child and than hug us all and give us each a .50cent piece!
Well that is just my Special memory! Thought I would share with you! Thanks so much and Blessings~Kelly :-)

Easter Projects
Since our family enjoys crafts each year we set aside some time ( usually after church on Palm Sunday) to sit down together for a project.
In the past we've used spray painted tree branches to fashion out own " Easter Tree" complete with homemade decorations and created various beaded egg ornaments we purchased at the craft store.
This year I think we will try these adorable egg votive candles. I found the directions and thought they'd be fun to try.
We all enjoy the time together and have a nice collection of decorations complete with the memories of the fun time making them.

The Clues are in the Eggs
The Easter Bunny has found a fun way to visit our house, without hiding chocolate eggs all over the place. We bought a set of plastic eggs (available in dollar stores or craft shops). Then the kids have to find the eggs as part of their treasure hunt.
One egg is easy to find, (on the table or kitchen counter), and it contains a clue to the next egg. The clues are pictures of things around the house (bathtub - egg in tub, couch - egg under cushions) or written clues. The last clue leads to a room that the kids don't usually go to. There they find a small chocolate bunny and an Easter present. Both kids love this tradition. It is easily as much fun as the egg hunts I remember from childhood, and there is no arguing over who has the most eggs.
My daughter had her first successful hunt when she was about 3years old. This year, we have two sizes of eggs, and I think the rule will be that the older child solves the clues in the small eggs, and the younger child solves the clues in the large eggs. We'll just alternate large and small when we are hiding them. It will let me use written clues for my daughter who can read, and pictures for my son who can't (clipart is great!).
Last year, they reused the clues and created their own treasure hunts for the next few weeks.

Back Porch Peeps
When I was growing up, our mom would put a package of marshmallow peeps on the back porch and say the Easter bunny left them for us.

Troutman Tradition
We get up and get the kids dressed in nice clothes, so that we can take pictures. After the pictures are taken, the kids hunt for their baskets of goodies (highly recommend taking pictures before the hunt for chocolate filled baskets!) We either have dinner as a family or we go to the grandparent's house for a nice dinner. The kids usually find the Easter Bunny has been there as well.

Coupon Eggs
Instead of Money or Candy inside plastic Easter eggs try adding kids coupons in the eggs such as "Stay up late an extra hour" "no chores for today," etc.
You can also do some for your spouse to find.

If you live where Spring does not come early....
When I was growing up in SC, Good Friday was the day we had our first Spring picnic. We packed up a lunch, drove to the nearest State Park and just enjoyed nature and SPRING!
I wanted to carry on that tradition with my own children, but here in Northern BC (Canada) we often have our last major snowstorm of the year on Easter weekend....even without the storm it's too cold for picnics. So one year, feeling slightly depressed while I watched the snow fly, I decided we would make our own "spring". I pulled out the tempera paints and brushes, gave the kids each a paint smock and assigned them each a window! Dad and Mom got in on the action and before long we had bright spring scenery in every window! We all had lots of fun and the bright pictures kept us going through the last few weeks of winter. Definitely a happy tradition for us now!
(I do recommend using masking tape to attach plastic near the bottom of the window to avoid paint draining down into the wooden frame. Just smearing along sides and top seems to wash off easily.)
