Shortly after my daughter’s 3rd birthday, we went shopping for a birthday gift for a friend. My daughter had a very difficult time understanding that it was somebody else’s turn to receive a gift. She kept asking for various toys in the shop while we walked the aisles. By the time we made it to the counter, between my 6 month old and my daughter our cart had collected several items we did not need to be purchasing. Trying to explain again how it just was not her turn to receive a gift, I decided to use another approach.
