This is actually a poem I wrote about
a special doggie who was rescued from a shelter.
My Gift to You
(Tribute to an Abused Dog)
When you look at me, what do you see?
My broken body, a wheel-chair for me?
When you look at me, what do you see?
Poor little fellow, how could this be?
When you look at me, what do you see?
14 years of abuse, the torture bestowed upon me?
When you look at me, what do you see?
A wire cage, no love for me?
You're not looking close enough.
What you see is my broken shell
You've been told of my living hell.
Your heart breaks for me and I know why
No creature should suffer as much as I.
But I have a secret just for you
Because you’re my friend, to me that's new.
Pssst, come here and look into my eyes
Look past the outer skin, deep where my heart lies.
You'll see the love that I've always had
All stored up, I'm sure you’ll be glad.
For I've been saving it for 14 years
I held it back through the pain and tears
14 years of love I've stored up
I held it close and never gave up
Don't be surprised that I know how to love
I didn't learn it here, I learned it from above
Because I knew some day that you would come for me
To be my loving savior and finally set me free
To be my companion and life-long friend
To show me true love until my end
So now, I give this gift to you
14 years of love - all save up for you.

What is your favorite Pet story?
My male budgie named Lemmy had a
vocabulary of 40 words. When my mother-in- law came to visit she picked up
his toy pretending to take it and Lemmy said to her "Lemmy's toy." My
mother-in-law was shocked that our bird would say those words to her.

We have had our Dog Bear for over 8
years. He was one of the family he listened better than the kids......He
started doing things( leaking on the floor)just after he went out side
and we took him to the vet just before Christmas. He told us just by
taking a biopsy that he had kidney cancer and he could give us some
medicine to keep him comfortable till after the holidays but it was his
suggestion to put him down as he would only get worse. It was a very hard
decision I wanted to take him home and take care of him and nmake him
all better just like I do to the kids but it wasnt going to get better so
we put him down.I cried for 2 days or more I said I never wanted
another dog in my life that no animal was ever going to get to me
again...That was Dec 15 of 2006.
In Jan of 2007 my husband got wind of a dog
that was tied up to a fence on his property that was just left there with
a note .Please take care of this dog and find him a good home. He was
skinney and needed a lot of love . My daughter who has Down Syndrome
didnt want a big dog, she wanted a little dog......This dog has been
the best watch dog we could ever have he watches over Mandy like I do and
is right there when a stranger comes to the door......Gunny has been a
God send and I love this dog like a child. He has become one of the
family and even listens better than the kids........They say God never
closes a door but opens a window well he didnt come in through a window
but he has opened the door of my heart.....

What is your favorite Pet story?
My raccoon, Raquel, used to climb on
the back of the couch and crawl under the throw blanket and stick her
head out and watch tv with me. She would do this everyday until the day
she died in my arms from cancer. I miss her soooo much.
