Hello and Welcome once again to Beauty's Back, YOUR place to ask those important Beauty questions.
Let's talk perfume...
We are now into October and the proof of the holidays is everywhere. Many of us are getting our New Years Dresses made, ordered etc. After all, of all the New Year's Eve parties that we have attended in the past, this one by far will be the most memorable in many people's minds.
Once you have your dress, your makeup and your nails done, you will be visually stunning! Not only will you make a lasting impression on those around you but also you want to also have them notice you by that sweet, smelling scent that passes them as you walk by. Unless you are allergic to perfumes, you will definitely want to top off your look with a gentle spray or dab of your favorite scent.
When applying perfume, you do not want to over do it. Simply spray or dab a bit on a place that you prefer. I like to dab a bit on my wrists, behind my neck and then I spay the perfume in front of me and I "walk into" it. Like this I am assured that when going to my dinner, event, etc. That I am noticed first, not the perfume.
Questions from our readers
Lisa, How do I apply my concealer. Some people say that the correct way is
to apply it UNDER my foundation, others say OVER. What do you say? ~Diana in California
Hi Diana and welcome! My answer to your question would be that it depends on the concealer. There are concealers that "set" quickly, in other words, from the moment that you apply it to the moment that it dries it is a matter of seconds. If this is the case with the product that you are using, apply it BEFORE you apply your foundation. If however, your concealer were one that rubs off easily then I would first apply the concealer then the foundation and if the concealer has rubbed off a bit, I would touch it up. PLEASE use a concealer that matches your foundation color. You always want to achieve an even color tone when applying make up and that goes for the concealer as well.

Hello I was reading your site and felt led to ask this question. I am a redhead going gray with very fair skin. At my mature age I should not have to worry about having facial sores. But I am very prone to getting sun burned and every time I do, I break out with very large sores on my temple, chin and neck. They say this is sun poison but I am not sure what that means. I am careful of what I use on my face, as it tends to be allergic to a lot of products. Right now I wear no make up at all till these sores go away again. I hope you might help me figure out what to do for these things. I am 44 and they say I look young for my age. But this week, I feel sore and tense and my face pains and so I don't feel good. I strive for healthy eating and walk a lot and swim and play hard with my kids (3 to 26) so now I wonder what else
to do as my face is so sore right now. I leave this question open for suggestions .~Caringmomma
Dear Caringmomma,
It sounds as if you have sensitive skin and you would benefit greatly from a skin care system designed specifically to help your skin type. The sun, of course, is not exactly a friend of our skin anymore. It used to be that we went out in the sun to help heal skin problems, and to a certain extent, that's still true. But nowadays, more harm than good can come from too much
sun exposure, hence the need for SPF's. It would be to your benefit to start using a skin care system designed not only for your skin type but also for skin over 30 (speaking from experience!!) There is also a product I've come across that has made a world of difference in my skin and others I know as well. It is a product called Royal Jelly Milk Balm Moisture Lotion. It contains a substance, Royal Jelly, that is manufactured by Bees. It is an antibacterial as well as an antibiotic. It heals and protects the skin at the same time. It helps diminish scars and prevents new damage. It nourishes the skin with amino acids that are found in our skin and it penetrates down deep, at least 3 layers. If your sores continue, I would see the doctor to make sure that your problem is not more severe but I strongly recommend that you do begin a skin care regimen. Please keep me updated.

Dear Lisa, I am 23 and have very fine lips. I look around me and see all these pretty women with "pouty" lips and I wish that I could look like them. I heard that there are shots that I can take to achieve that look but that scares me. What can I do? Lena in Ohio
Hi Lena! You are right, there are shots that you can take to make your lips fuller but since you are uncomfortable with that option, here is my suggestion. There are other ways to have your lips appear fuller. You can simply do this with a good lip liner and lipstick. When lining your lips extend the pencil slightly outward from your lip line. Fill in the lips with the lip pencil (this will help your lipstick stay on longer) and then apply your lipstick. You should now have fuller looking lips. Remember; just outline your lips "slightly" away from your actual lip line. You want "the look" to appear natural.
Happy Lining! Let me know how you make out!
