Now onto our newest story:
Mr. Sneaker

In our household, there are 3 cats. Mr. Sneaker (aka the BIG DOG),
Thumbalina and her sister Itty Bitty Kitty. Mr. Sneaker got his nickname
because we used to have a little dog...and he is bigger than that dog was.
He doesn't know that cats aren't supposed to know how to tell time and to
obey commands. He does both. At 6 am he sits by the cupboard door and
demands his can of moist food. If he doesn't get it on time, he convinces
the other 2 to join him in screaming for it. My husband has no
choice...every morning at 6 am...there they are. And my husband opens up
one can of moist food for Mr. Sneaker and the girls EVERY morning.
We realized that Mr. Sneaker hasn't figured out day light savings time yet
though. In the evening, he starts pacing for his evening can of food just
before 5 pm. No matter how many times you tell him that it isn't 6 pm, he
insists it is...somewhere! Still, when 6 pm finally rolls around, the girls
are right there with him, waiting for the human to open up another can of
food.
(They have dry food anytime they want it...this is just their pre-determined
treat time!)
At bed time, Mr. Sneaker races us to finish making the bed before he gets on
it. Then he insists on his portion of affection and belly rubbing. Once my
husband gets into the bed, Mr. Sneaker gives back the affection by climbing
on to his chest and making purring LOUDLY while kneading the bedcovers and
settling in. When my husband has had enough, he tells Mr. Sneaker to MOVE
and without any further commands or gestures from my husband...he moves off
his chest and stands there next to him on the bed waiting to be told to "Lay
down."
And he does. Mr. Sneaker doesn't move from that spot until I come to bed a
few hours later. Then he gets up, goes out to the kitchen, tips over the
waste basket or convinces one of the girls to do it for him, and comes back
to bed all within the first 10 minutes of my arrival in the bed.
Talk about having rituals!!
