What I am Doing for Preparedness
Wednesday, September 29th, 2010I am just starting to add and read preparedness websites and thought I would share with you what I have found, if you are like me, not too deep into the saving of food and water, we can possibly learn together:) Just leave me any comments and things you have found that would be mutually beneficial…….thanks.
This is not your usual preparedness site..it’s one for the rest of us. Trying to be prepared in a casual, every week manner.
I try to buy canned veggies/fruits, fruit juices, dried beans, peas when they are on sale. I am stocking up on canned salmon, tuna, spam. This is not what I am recommending (put them in the dishwasher), but I wash my milk jugs extremely well and store water in them.
Some other things I suggest:
Luxury, Mood Enhancers:
Old Hickory Pits Barbecue Seasoning
(can add a little luxury taste) very reasonable price.

From the Garden:
Consider growing Sweet Potatoes/Yams…
You get a nice crop and they store well.

Instead of going out and buying a ton of stuff, why not buy extras of what you are buying for the week or month. I try to buy my shampoo, laundry soap, toothpaste anything like that from The Dollar General. Instead of just buying one, I buy two and store one. That way I can add my extra to my preparedness pantry.
Here is a fabulous list that claims you can add to your pantry on $5 a week…try it:

Look for bargains this Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving Bargains
Lots more to look for and post…you can contribute too. Thanks.
