n1312356485_8486I’m eating an egg mcmuffin, yes, I know I shouldn’t be, but my husband took my daughter to work and he bought one for me. It’s Memorial Day. Bernie is working in the yard. I don’t think we are having a family picnic this year. We are busy working on our house inside and out.

Couple of weeks ago, B. and I went to H&R Block to have our taxes finished, we walked in and sat down to wait for our appt. As usual, my husband had on his Navy Chief hat.

Two young guys walked in, both were kind of “gangsta” looking and one even left because I think I gave him a sort of dirty look when he began talking on his cell and his language was, uh, inappropriate. As, my husband got up, because our name was called, the other kid, got up, came up to my husband, stretched his hand out, and said, “Thanks for serving!”

Bernie was impressed, although he didn’t say much….but he wrote on his facebook page:

Bernie Shaw “It’s not corny, cheesie or embarassing to thank a Veteran, when you meet or know one. Everytime it happens to me it hits me deep, I thought it was just a load of sentimentality when I heard the idea. A short time later while rushing down a street in the Burgh, a couple stopped me they both said”Thank You for serving, sir.” I was speechless, I realized that no one had ever actually said thank you before. PRICELESS.”
